The pandemic had hit the country when most of the graduates were trying to pitch for the job. They are the ones who have the least experience related to the work culture of a company and how do deal with the whole new normal of work life.
Even though most IT companies have started their hiring procedures, many companies have closed the door for this year. Every fresh graduate wishes to get their dream job, but all those have come down in vain.
It is a difficult time for companies to hire fresh graduates who have no or little knowledge of the industry. The main reason is manpower. To train these aspirants, companies need to have employees dedicated their time and energy. With virtual onboarding taking place, it is quite difficult to even get track of what to teach and how the new employee is progressing.
So during these difficult times, companies are focusing on hiring one experienced employee rather than going for four new freshers. This saves time and resources, as well.
So what can freshers do?
Understand the trend- Know what your industry wants. Every industry is moving towards digitalization, and that is going to be the most significant shift in the work industry. So, go along with the flow. Understand the needs and make sure you are updating yourself with the industry’s latest wants.
Internships or Volunteering- It is challenging to land that perfect job. So start doing internships and volunteer for organizations. Don’t go on looking for hefty salaries. Sometimes salaries can’t help. Try to gain experience in the field so that it adds value to your resume. Also, you can start doing freelancing if you are good at multi-tasking.
Change your focus- Since many jobs have dried up, freshers need to make sure that they are flexible. Search for jobs that are related to the field you have studied. It’s not always necessary to job one kind of situation. Companies like people with a variety.
Sometimes, life comes up with a lot of challenges, we need to face it with power. So try to utilize the time that you have in hand rather than sitting idly.
