According to Zenbusiness, more than half of the employees lack faith in their HR leaders and department. At times, the HR department seems to be a wonder because people from other departments do not understand how it works. It is often considered a complicated aspect to deal with. Here are some tips to increase employees’ faith in HR departments:
1. Be a supporter
HR leaders should be aware of the business which their company is involved with. They should learn the kind of business and render maximum support to the employees. Building cordial relationships with the business leaders and employees, participating in business meetings, conducting events can help employees have faith in HR leaders. They should study the challenges and offer apt solutions on time.
2. Be a listener
Giving ears to employees and helping them in taking up risks is important for an HR leader. The employees should be given space to make decisions too which will increase faith in their HR.
3. Role of HR
Many people in the company can just think that the HR department is solely for supporting employees in needs. They should be well explained that the role of HR includes supporting the business and ensuring a peaceful working atmosphere. When employees are given a vivid idea of what the department really is, it will help them grow more faith in the department.
4. Be a connector
HR leaders should regularly check on their employees irrespective of their position and department. Try to have genuine conversations with them. The more you are transparent, the more you will gain trust among them. This will help them open up to you too.
5. Be human
People forget about the human aspect of Human Resources. Remember that whenever you deal with people, they will think about you in terms of how you talked with them and how they felt. Express empathy and compassion. It is not that leaders are error-free, they can make mistakes too. If you have done any error, let people know it. This will set a good example before the employees. You see them being open about their mistakes.
6. Expand the team
As the size of the business increases, there is a chance that the HR role will become less. Business heads and HR leaders should see that there are people at every level to guide employees emotionally and intellectually. There should be HR leaders appointed at all levels of a company. These leaders are to keep daily communication with each other.
7. Break the silo
What we see in common is that the HR programmes are always done by them alone. Break this silo and let employees from all departments involved in programmes too. Better create a task force of employees. This will get them to know about how your department works. They will get an idea of the limitations and needs of the business.
An HR leader who collects feedback from the employees on various topics can know their thoughts. This enables the department to function accordingly. Leaders who work with ethics and integrity is always valued by their team. Human Resource is not about being perfect, but being human in all areas. The leaders can be emotionally vulnerable too. That doesn’t mean that they are weak or not good to be a leader. Always prioritise the human element and you will see the magic happening.
