In the words of Krevin Kruse, the founder, and CEO of LEADx,

“Employee engagement is the emotional commitment an employee has to the organization and its goals.”

Employee engagement ideas contribute towards the improvement of the relationship between an organization and its employees. The aim of having these strategies is to motivate the employees and keep them engaged. Such ideas foster participation and develop team spirit among the workers.

Keeping the employees engaged virtually, especially during this pandemic can be challenging. So, what can companies do to increase engagement with employees virtually?

Online games:

Online games are a great way to engage with virtual teammates and co-workers. Companies can invite their employees to connect over video calls so that they can play lots of fun games and exciting challenges. Playing virtual games will allow workers to communicate better and enjoy short breaks while working.

Virtual ted talks:

Ted talks are what most of us turn to for getting a dose of motivation and inspiration. So, why not make use of it to engage employees? Organizing “Ted Talks Style” conversations among the employees will allow them to share their personal experiences or expertise in a particular field. This will encourage collaborative learning and also create virtual happy moments.

Virtual parties:

From work anniversaries to birthdays, team managers can organize virtual parties to acknowledge the special days of their team members and to make them feel valued and recognized. This can be done by organizing virtual calls or meetings and hosting a small surprise party where the co-workers of a particular employee can craft and communicate their messages and good wishes to him or her.

Online coffee breaks:

Regular online coffee breaks can be scheduled once or twice a week. This can be done by establishing some basic rules and keeping conversations casual and engaging. Some entertaining activities also might be arranged to increase employee engagement and participation. Large teams can be broken up into smaller groups so that every person gets the opportunity of expressing himself or herself.

Health and wellness sessions:

Supporting employees’ health and well-being goes a long way to make them feel valued and respected. Companies can organize wellness programs and sessions. Regular consultations and sessions with wellness coaches and health experts can help employees talk about their health issues and get probable solutions to those.

Apply gamification:

Companies can apply game-playing techniques to enhance the experience of a virtual workplace environment for their employees. These kinds of competitions will increase collaboration, cooperation, and engage workers in a fun and entertaining way. Through these employees will also feel included and a sense of healthy competition will enhance their performances.

Virtual strategies for employee engagement develop participation, builds a feeling of community, and fosters creativity as well. The primary aim is to make the employees feel connected and cared for, especially during the present ‘work from home’ scenarios. Ideas do not have to be perfect. What is important is the inclination to get started.
